Strategic Cost Transformation

Leveraging digital cost management to transform

Increasing competition and complexity in operating models are rapidly transforming the discipline of managing costs. Ambitions for reducing costs are hight. But success rates don't quite follow ambitions and are actually far from impressive, as revealed by Deloitte's Biennial Cost Survey 2019.

Increasingly, tactical and operational levers are failing to deliver on targets - and more structural changes are required if you want to sustain cost competitiveness. In this process, digital is taking the front stage in two ways:

- As and enabler for rapid and accurate triaging

- As the prescribed medication for decreasing costs (i.e. via cloud, automation etc.)

While most organizations are familiar with digital as the prescribed 'medications' for decreasing costs, via levers such as RPA, cognitive automation and cloud, digital for 'traging' is generally poorly understood and adopted. The key to success with triaging is to understand how highly specialized tools potentially enable a switch from narrowly focused one-off cost-out analyses to broad yet rapid diagnostics sprints. These sprints cover a broad range of structural hypotheses, enabled by specialized analytics tools that can be embedded permanently to lifting cost management maturity and establishing a robust and scalable platform to drive competitiveness and margins.

Join Deloitte's session about Strategic Cost Reductions to better understand how to manage costs within organizations in a save-to-transform world; learn about the latest global trends within cost management, and particularly why "save-to-transform" is the main mode of cost savings today.
